Jouleen, I think your research topic is so important due to the many safety issues, especially in the bus! I like the increments of your evaluations. They seem very manageable. What are some of the main issues your campus experiences that led you to choose this topic?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the madness! At one point last year a pregnant teacher nearly got knocked over! As I was reading through the 44 topics we are going to be participating in this year, something made me think of our after school process and I knew it was a necessary fix that our administrator didn't seem at all concerned about.
DeleteYou have a very good topic. Time and time again we have bus issues. It gets even worse in the summer for summer school. I don't know if every school ISD works the same way but at our school the bus drivers can write up referral and turn them in to the front office. It seems to give them a little more power and some kids that know they can write them up don't give them trouble.
ReplyDeleteYeah our school does the same thing... bus drivers can write kids up and turn them in right away-- but even students that get kicked off the bus, if they don't have someone that can transport them to and from school, we are required to let them ride the bus... totally defeating the fact that they acted up on the bus because there is no consequence for their action. Hopefully by implementing a new release system, students will be calmer when they get on the bus because there is structure and some discipline problems will be disseminated.
